I live in Athens, Ohio; it is a lovely college town (Ohio University) in the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio. I received my BFA in Sculpture from OU in 1990 and decided to stay here. I got married and had a son. Now single, I live and and make my art in a quiet neighborhood with a cat and a dog.
I work part time as a prep cook and baker at Kindred Market health food store in Athens, Ohio. I am also an events coordinator - I am the director of our local pop culture convention, Ratha Con, and I help facilitate the Nelsonville Music Festival, Stitchfest (fiber festival), and Athens Community Music and Arts Festival. I am a commissioner with the Athens Municipal Arts Commission and I am on the board of the Athens Art Guild for which I organize the annual Holiday Shoppe.
I started my business in 2000 and have been building a wide range of customers who appreciate my natural aesthetic. Much of my work is a representation of the research I do - I have a passion for ancient Celtic culture and mythology. I strive to capture its essence in my art. Trees were as sacred to them in the past as they are now to me. Lately, I have added a more fantastical theme to my work with my mushroom faeries (see above). Recently, I have added thrown, functional items and fiber related work.
